Wags to riches for Evesham pooch

It was a wags to riches story for one pup when he was adopted from Evesham’s Dogs Trust by a TV and film agency.

Three-year-old Dodger was given a second chance at life by a company that trains dogs for UK and Hollywood TV and film projects.

The collie cross is now the star of ITV’s Doc Martin drama series, where he plays Buddy alongside Martin Clunes and Stephanie Cole. He will soon be making an appearance on the big screen in the film Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Chris Slight, Dogs Trust Evesham centre manager, said: “The centre cares for 150 dogs at any one time and, our staff think each one of our canine residents has star quality.

“Dodger’s story shows how unwanted and stray dogs deserve a second chance and we hope his success will encourage people to consider rehoming a dog.
